A transversely loaded pin was used as part of a support mechanism for an offshore structure to prevent horizontal slippage. We were asked to to ascertain whether the arrangement was safe and caused no damage to other parts of the structure.
What We Did
Detailed contact stress analysis (method: finite element analysis)
